Introduction to the production process of Pogo Pin connectors

Material used for needle shaft/needle tube:
The main function of connectors is to conduct signals and frequently plug and unplug them, so their materials have high requirements for conductivity and elasticity (voltage reduction strength). The main material used is copper alloy, and commonly used copper alloys are as follows:
1: Brass: A copper zinc alloy with good conductivity, with a conductivity between 26% and 29% (IACS). According to the proportion of copper, it can be further divided into C2680 (JIS), C3604, and C3601 (requiring heat treatment)
1-2: Phosphorus bronze: Compared to brass, copper tin alloy with poor conductivity has a conductivity of about 13%. However, it has good elasticity and ductility
Pipes suitable for stretching processes can be classified into C5440, C5191, and C5210 based on their tin content. The higher the tin content, the poorer its conductivity and elasticity
1-3: Heat treated copper alloys, such as beryllium alloys, have good conductivity and elasticity, but are more expensive
Shell and lid materials used:
Provide the main structure and insulation of the connector, and accommodate the Pogo PIN inside it. The materials used: There are significant differences in the size, shape, and purpose of the connectors, so the engineering plastics used are also different. When designing connectors, consideration should be given to temperature resistance, flowability, mechanical strength, electrical performance, environmental requirements, and cost factors to select suitable engineering plastics. Common engineering plastics include LCP, HTN, NYLON46, PBT, PA4T, PA10T, PC, etc
Due to the inherent flame retardant properties of LCP, it can reach UL94 V-0 level without adding flame retardants. Therefore, LCP can easily meet RoHS and halogen-free requirements. HTN, PA4T, and PA9T are nylon materials that require the addition of flame retardants to achieve UL94 V-0 levels. The manufacturers of HTN, PA4T, and PA10T declare that the materials of the relevant brands use halogen-free flame retardants.
